Annual Secret Santa participants all very happy with their pressies. Getting more sensible every year it seems.

Christmas spirit is definitely in the air at APS. Ho! Ho! Ho!

In November, APS proudly celebrated the men in our company as it is the month that traditionally focuses on men’s health. With more than three quarters of our workforce made up of men across Sales, Accounts, Design, Technical, Despatch, and Transport, it was a meaningful opportunity to recognise their contributions and well-being. We marked International Men’s Day on Wednesday, 19th, to show appreciation of the impact these men make in our company. To round off a month of fundraising led by a few of our male colleagues growing their moustaches, we hosted a lively coffee morning to support their efforts to raise donations for Brookfield School in our area that provides exceptional support for children with special needs.

In November 2025 some of our warehouse staff grew their moustaches to fund-raise cash for the amazing Brookfield Special Primary School, Moira. We dug deep everyone and the month ended with a great coffee morning.  We expected classic handlebars and refined walrus styles among others but it didn’t exactly get to that stage. Over £500 was raised and matched by the company totalling £1000. Well done to the warehouse team – what a great initiative to organise.

The weather didn’t dampen the spirit at Belfast’s Memory Walk on 27th September in Ormeau Park in aid of Alzheimer’s Society. Team APS turned out reliable as ever. We had some craic on the 6k walk and a chance to chat about everything not work related for a change. A morning well spent as we remembered those who are living with the effects of Alzheimer’s and those we have known who are no longer with us. Many in APS have experience on a personal level. APS board matched the funds we raised and a cheque was presented to Alzheimer’s Society for £1200. Thanks to everyone who took part and donated.

APS are pleased to have made 2 charity donations last month thanks to the efforts of our colleagues Robert Bell and John Hilland who took part in the annual Movember moustache growing activities. Between them they raised over £1000 and APS matched their total. Chosen charities are the Children’s NI Hospice £1500 and the Movember Foundation for men’s cancer and men’s suicide prevention £552. Well done guys!

APS mantra ‘from concept to design’ is just one reason why we are proud to continue to sponsor events for up-and-coming architects in conjunction with Ulster University. Just before Christmas 2018 an event took place at the Mac Belfast where final Year Architectural Technology and Management students presented major project designs they are working on to guests and lecturers. The day included an inspirational talk from Richland Group CEO Gary McCausland. The students are a highly competent group and we wish them well as they approach the final stages of their course.

Aluminium & Plastics Systems (APS) Ltd is pleased to sponsor the new 2019/20 match kit for Ridgeway Rovers 05 National League team. The boys wore this on their recent trip to Fleetwood Town FC organised by coaches Stephen and Mark Thomas. APS continues to sponsor architectural students in conjunction with Ulster University. Pictured at the recent Architectural Technology End of Year Show 2019 is our Contracts Manager Kenny Faulkner presenting the “APS Award for Design Creativity 2018/2019” to Catriona Slane with a £200 cheque. We wish Catriona and all the class of 2019 the very best in their new careers.
